the most important thing when reversing an articulated vehicle is observation and safety of other road users. If reversing a large vehicle you should always have a banksman to guide you and ensure the area you are reversing into is clear and not endangering other road users. luckily this time it was a car, and not a motorcycle or pedestrian. Always have a banksman when reversing a HGV vehicle
