The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) was introduced in the UK in 2007, following EU directive 2003/59/EC, which applies to the majority of commercial HGV drivers. This is mandatory for professional drivers of most commercial vehicles, in addition to possessing an HGV driving licence.
